Can you walk me through an example of how to use GuineaONCALL?
Sure! Start GuineaONCALL and you'll see a table with two buttons at the bottom of the screen labeled Enter New CC and Edit Systems. Let us setup a new entry for management of an MI (this won't be very realistic, so don't actually rely on this information to treat patients).
If you were to tap the Edit Systems button from the main page, you would be given another menu where you can select and change the different systems (e.g., cardiovascular, respiratory, etc.) that you can file your entries by. At this point we don't need to change these, so lets just tap Enter New CC and get started.
After you tape Enter New CC you are taken to the editing screen. This is where you enter the bulk of your information for GuineaONCALL. Let us start by entering a new chief complaint. In the text area next to "CC:" enter "Chest Pain." Next, select the system that this pertains to (cardiovascular, of course). Now, click in the differential diagnosis (DDx) box and we'll enter some of the differentials for chest pain. Let's enter:
Angina
MI
Pneumothorax
PUD
Of course there are many more, but let's keep this example simple. Now tap on the Labs button. On this screen we can enter some important information about working-up patients with chest pain. For now, let's just write "Order STAT EKG" and then tap Done.
From the edit screen, tap Imaging. Now we are at the imaging screen where we can enter information on what imaging studies to enter. You will also notice that you have a scratchpad to the right where you can draw out radiographs if you wish. Activating shift on your Palm (upstroke in grafitti area) will activate an eraser so you can erase what you've drawn. Tap Done when you are finished.
The three remaining buttons Management, Notes, and Scratchpad are very similar to the above examples. Here you can enter information on managing this chief complaint, enter miscellaneous notes (like looking for Levine's sign or other similar diagnostic pearls), and so on. For now, just tap Done and we'll be back at the main screen.
On the main screen you'll see that "Chest Pain" is now listed in our table. If we had multiple entries and we just wanted to look at the cardiovascular ones, we could tap on the pull-down box at the top of the table and select cardiovascular. This would filter out all entries except those that are cardiovascular in nature. If you tap on the actual entry in the table, this will take you back to the editing screen where you can modify your entry.
Hopefully, this gives you an idea of how to use GuineaONCALL.
When I'm drawing in a scratchpad, how do I erase what I've drawn.
If you shift (upstroke in the graffitti area), the pen becomes an eraser. Simply draw over what you've drawn and watch as your sketch disappears.
Can I run Palm Hacks while using GuineaONCALL?
You can try. But if GuineaONCALL begins acting odd, turn your hacks off and try again (this applies to any and all software, not just the GuineaSOFT line of products).
