What is GuineaSCHEDULE?
GuineaSCHEDULE was designed to make planning college class schedules a much faster and easier process. With GuineaSCHEDULE, you enter class data (title, course ID, meeting time, meeting location, professor etc.) into the course database and assign these classes to particular semester. By assigning classes to semesters, this allows you to plan well into the future! Even better, you can move classes around semesters quickly and easily without having to re-enter any information.
How do I install GuineaSCHEDULE?
Easy. Download GuineaSCHEDULE from OUR SOFTWARE page and simply unzip it. Install the single prc file and the two pdb files onto your Palm, and you are ready to go.
How do you use GuineaSCHEDULE?
Go ahead and start GuineaSCHEDULE. The first screen you'll see is the main screen with a table that lists the courses you currently have entered into the database. GuineaSCHEDULE comes with a sample database for two semesters for you to look at. This sample database should give you a good idea of how to use GuineaSCHEDULE. Go ahead and take a minute or two to look at the sample database. When you are done and you feel like you know how to use GuineaSCHEDULE, you can delete the sample database entries.
The first thing you need to do when you start using GuineaSCHEDULE is to setup the semesters you will be planning. To do this, click the button labeled Semester on the main screen. This will take you to the "Edit Semester" screen where you can add, delete, or modify the current semesters. The sample database comes with two semesters already entered into the database as well as an "Unknown" category. You may delete or change these if you wish. However, you may wish to keep the "Unknown" category. This is a great category for you to store classes that you know you need to take, but are uncertain when you will be taking them. Go ahead and take a moment to enter the semesters you want to plan with GuineaSCHEDULE. When you are finished, press Done.
Once you are back at the main GuineaSCHEDULE screen, you'll notice that if you use the pull-down menu next to the Semester button that the semesters you entered will now be available. Use this option to filter which courses will be displayed on the table. Of course it doesn't work yet because we haven't entered any courses, so let's go ahead and do that now. Go ahead and press New Course. This will take you to the "Edit Course" screen where you will enter all of the important information pertaining to the course. The important part of this screen is the top portion where it has a pulldown menu for you to select the semester to assign this course to. This setting can be changed at any time in the future, thus allowing you to move courses between semesters as you plan your future schedule. Go ahead and enter any data you wish for the rest of the fields on the "Edit Course" screen.
One last button I would like to call your attention to on the "Edit Course" screen is the Notes button. Tapping this button opens a memo pad where you can enter miscellaneous notes about this particular course. While I was a student, I was always getting great advice from upperclassmen on what class to take, what books to buy for a particular course, and so on. I was always losing and/or forgetting this information. You can use this notes section to make notes about this particular course so that you will have this information available to you in the future!
After you've entered a few courses, you can press the Done button to return to the main screen. Assuming you entered courses for multiple semesters, you should now be able to use the Semester pull down option to select the semester you wish to view. If you wish, you can tap on the course entries on the table to view the course details. That's about it!
Hopefully, this gives you an idea of how to use GuineaSCHEDULE.
Can I run Palm Hacks while using GuineaSCHEDULE?
You can try. But if GuineaSCHEDULE begins acting odd, turn your hacks off and try again (this applies to any and all software, not just the GuineaSOFT line of products).
